What Is Fat Injection?
Fat injection is an aesthetic application which is performed to fill the gaps and collapses that occur as a result of the reduction of existing fat tissue under the skin due to aging. These problems are caused by skin sagging because of gravity and soft tissue reduction due to aging. It is also seen that some patients experience these problems genetically.
Some of our patients who want to have a fat injection into the facial area may experience collapses in their faces when they lose weight. Fat injection is very effective to regain balanced and proportional face lines. Those who have had facial fat injection state that this method is very successful and easy to apply.

Why Is Fat Injection Performed?

Recovery Period

I do not recommend ice compresses to prevent swelling after the surgery. This is because the ice can cause contraction and shrinkage in the veins. As a result, although edema and bruising decrease, it can also prevent newly added fat tissues from feeding through blood and having oxygen. This can negatively affect fat permanence.
Smoking should be avoided for at least 3 weeks after the operation. If possible, patients should stay away from smoking. Smoking triggers the amount of fat loss and delays the healing process.
Swelling and bruising reach at maximum level on the 3rd or 4th day after the operation. Prescribed antibiotics, painkillers, and anti-bruising creams should be used regularly. Swelling which occurs very fat is also recovered at the same pace and our patients can return to their work and normal lives after about 10 days of resting period.
Loss of injected fats after the operation is spread over the first 3 months. The loss in the amount of injected fat is at the maximum level in the first month. It takes 6 months to 1 year for the procedure area to take its final form.
What Are the Risks?
- Even rare, there is a risk of infection that can occur in any surgical procedure. Redness, pain, excessive sensitivity, fever and infection symptoms can be seen in the procedure area. This infection is treated with the use of appropriate antibiotics. It does not cause permanent problems.
- Some amount of the injected fat decrease over time and there may be loss of fullness. Procedure can be repeated if there is very fast dissolving.
- Numbness and excessive sensitivity to the procedure area are very rare symptoms. Applying massages in these areas will help to solve the problem.
- In a very superficial fat injection, there may be discoloration on the skin surface. This condition is very difficult to correct. Therefore, the injection should not be done so close to the skin surface.
- Even so rare, fat can be accumulated in a certain area and cause mass formation if too much injection is done and it is not spread equally.
