Botox is one of the most popular medical procedures of recent years, and it is an exotoxin applied for the purpose of temporarily eliminating wrinkles that appear as a sign of aging on the skin and providing a younger appearance to the skin. Botox obtained from Clostridium Botulinum bacteria in laboratory conditions is also used in the treatment of excessive sweating. Botox, which prevents the release of substances that provide transmission in the nerve endings, is not a process that affects all muscles in a systemic way, but is effective only in the area where it is injected. Botox, which blocks the mediators released from the nerve endings, temporarily stops nerve conduction. As a result of the interruption of nerve conduction, the movement of the muscle activated by the nerve decreases or disappears completely. Thus, the effect of Botox is revealed.
How is Botox Applied?
Thanks to this method, which is based on the injection of the material used in the Botox method into the skin, the appearance of wrinkles on the skin can be completely eliminated or the appearance of deep wrinkles can be alleviated. Botulinum toxin is diluted before Botox injection is given. Before the injection, anesthetic cream is applied to the application area. Thus, the patient does not feel any pain during the injection. Extremely fine-tipped injectors are used in Botox injection, which is completed in approximately 15-20 minutes. And small doses are injected into the muscles. The areas to be injected are made to the wrinkle points determined by considering the muscle structure of the person. The effect of botulinum toxin injected into the muscle tissue usually begins to be seen within 24-72 hours. In some rare cases, this period may take up to 5-7 days.
If the Botox application is not repeated, there will be no increase in wrinkles. On the contrary, since Botox applications that are repeated regularly for a certain period of time will weaken the mimic muscles, there is a decrease in wrinkles.
