PRP, short for Platelet Rich Plasma, is actually a procedure based on the injection of plasma enriched by a blood cell, platelets. Blood consists of two parts. The liquid part of blood is called plasma. The other part consists of three types of cell groups called red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. In the PRP procedure, dense platelets are provided in the plasma, which is the liquid part of the blood, as a result of various processes.
Platelets, whose task is to ensure blood coagulation, are activated when the blood leaves the vessel. In this case, they both initiate the coagulation process and secrete growth factors that will accelerate wound healing. These active substances secreted by platelets and the positive effects they provide have been used in various fields of medicine for a long time. PRP, which is used in the treatment of chronic wounds, joint and muscle damage, is among the most frequently applied medical aesthetic procedures to provide skin regeneration in recent years.
PRP application consists of processing the blood taken from the patient. A small amount of blood taken is centrifuged through special filters. Platelets, which will allow the blood to condense several times into the plasma, which is the liquid part of the blood, are made ready for application. In PRP, which is a very safe procedure, if care is taken to apply the procedure in a sterile environment in addition to using the person’s own blood, no side effects will be encountered.
After the blood is separated in the PRP procedure, the part of the blood consisting of red cells, which has an average of two hundred thousand platelets in each milliliter, is separated and blood with dense platelets in each milliliter is obtained. DNA activators with the ability to increase growth factors are also added to the obtained blood. It is then injected to the application area. Thanks to the secretion of growth factors and collagen synthesis, the proliferation of tendon stem cells is ensured and blood flow is increased. Thus, we are able to intervene with a safe and natural method obtained from the person’s own blood.
Effects of PRP
PRP is a procedure frequently used in cosmetic and anti-aging treatments. PRP, which is one of the most effective methods of giving elasticity and brightness to the skin, has revitalizing and restructuring effects. With the PRP procedure, it is possible to support all vital functions of the skin in the subcutaneous tissue. PRP has also hair strengthening and hair loss preventing effects. It also prevents wrinkles and collapses that occur due to aging. It is an effective procedure for skin restructuring in case of wounds and skin damage. In addition, PRP application can be used in the rapid reconstruction of the controlled damage created on the skin after applications such as laser. It is possible to obtain highly effective results with the PRP method, which can be used in areas such as the face, hands, neck, décolleté, arms and legs in medical aesthetics.
Under normal conditions, when there is any damage to the tissues, the reaction that occurs in the body allows platelets to accumulate in this area and start the repair process. Platelets, which are found in small numbers in undamaged tissues, cannot be active. Since the number of platelets in the tissues where PRP application is performed increases by 2-4 times, platelets become active with the slight damage caused by the application. Thus, an effective and safe option is provided for the regeneration of the area where PRP treatment is applied.
After PRP treatment is applied to the skin, it is possible to provide a bright and healthy look. In addition to problems such as sagging, wrinkles, loss of collagen and loss of elasticity that occur on the skin, the PRP procedure may also be applicable for under-eye bruises and skin whitening. PRP is one of the most effective treatment methods for removing the spots that occur especially during pregnancy. PRP, which provides rapid healing in many areas of the skin, plays an effective role in the treatment of acne and scars, thanks to its regeneration stimulating feature.
PRP application can provide tissue regeneration in cases of cellulite and cracks and eliminate the problem. PRP treatment can also be used to stop hair loss and protect hair health. With PRP treatment, it is possible to form healthy tissue in the hair follicles or to reconstruct the hair tissues that have lost their health as a result of traumas due to various reasons. Hair health is directly related to the health of hair tissues and follicles. For this reason, PRP treatment stands out as an effective and reliable method for the regeneration of hair follicles and tissues in eliminating hair health problems.
Following the PRP treatment, the patient enjoys a healthy and bright looking skin. Although there is some regression in the appearance of this shiny skin, improvement in the skin becomes much more obvious after a few applications.
One course of PRP treatment consists of 4 sessions in 2-week intervals. It is recommended to get a repeat dose in 6 months. One course of treatment should be completed to notice the full effect. Improvement obtained after one course of treatment lasts about one year. Repeated PRP every year would ensure continuity in improvement in skin.
