Rhinoplasty is one of the aesthetic surgeries that people need for several different reasons. Today, many people need nasal aesthetic surgery because they have breathing problems, but people who are not satisfied with the appearance of their nose apply to specialists for nasal aesthetic surgery.
Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that can be applied with both open and closed techniques. The method preferred is a factor that has a direct impact on the healing process of the patient. Recovery time is shorter in closed rhinoplasty technique. In addition, the patient’s complete compliance with the rules specified by the surgeon before and after the operation and the fact that the operation is performed by a specialist surgeon with sufficient experience accelerates the healing process.
When rhinoplasty operations are performed to eliminate deformities in the nose, it is possible to solve the breathing problems of the person as well as providing an aesthetic change. Although the recovery process of rhinoplasty varies from person to person, it is very important for the patient to listen to the doctor’s recommendations. Within 7-10 days after the operation, 90% of the swellings on the face of the patients disappears. Likewise, the bruises that occur after the surgery decrease or disappear completely. Thus, patients can return to work and social life in about 7 days.
Nose operation and the process after it is not a painful process. In the first days following the surgery, a discharge mixed with blood may occur in the form of leakage. This situation is expected to resolve spontaneously within a few days. Likewise, maximum care should be taken to avoid possible blows to the nose, especially in the early period. The patient should be very careful when wiping their nose, and choose clothes that can be easily put on and taken off.
Likewise, care should be taken to protect the face from the sun in the early postoperative period. In particular, the patient should be actively protected from the sun until the bruises are completely healed. After the rhinoplasty, you should lie in a position with the head elevated during the first 4 days of sleep and rest. Ice should be applied around the eyes for at least 2 days and at 15-minute intervals. Thus, bruises and swellings that may occur can be reduced. Solid, hot and dry foods should not be consumed for 4 days. It should be preferred to consume foods that are juicy, warm, cold, soft and do not need to be chewed much. Likewise, the patient should be careful while laughing, crying, shouting and yawning. Hard movements and activities should be avoided. It is possible to take walks after the surgery. It is necessary to wait two weeks for brisk walks and at least three weeks for heavy sports. If a tampon was placed in the patient’s nose during the rhinoplasty operation, the tampon should be removed within two days at the latest. It is generally preferred to wait seven days for the removal of the plaster or nasal splint.
You Can Get the Look You Want with Nose Aesthetics
As the nose is in the foreground in terms of aesthetics, care should be taken to preserve the respiratory and olfactory functions in nasal aesthetic surgeries performed to change the shape of the nose. In order for the rhinoplasty surgery to be functionally as well as aesthetically successful, functional problems such as deviation, lower turbinate hypertrophy or sinusitis can be intervened during the same operation in order to breathe and smell comfortably in the postoperative period.
In order to obtain successful aesthetic and functional results in nose surgeries, the doctor who will perform the surgery should be an expert and experienced in nose surgery, closely monitor the current developments in the field, and follow surgical techniques and technologies.
In rhinoplasty, different surgical techniques can be applied, taking into account the content of the aesthetic problem in the nose, the textural characteristics of the nose, the expectations of the patient, and whether there are discomforts such as sinusitis, intranasal curvature or intranasal flesh growth to be intervened within the scope of the same operation.
General anesthesia is used in rhinoplasty operations, except for some special cases. The surgery is completed in 1.5-2.5 hours, depending on the scope of the intervention and the technique to be used. The surgery may take longer in patients who have previously undergone rhinoplasty surgery and whose sinuses will be intervened during the surgery, and in cases where cartilage pieces will be removed from the ear or ribs.
Nasal aesthetic surgeries are basically the separation of the nasal skin and the mucous membrane covering the inside of the nose from the bone and cartilage structures by making use of the incisions made entirely from the inside of the nose or from the skin section, a small part of which is between the two nostrils, and giving the desired shape to the nasal bone and cartilage structures with different techniques and technologies and the placement of the skin and mucosa. In rhinoplasty operations, the skin covering the nose is not directly intervened, except for special cases.
There are two different techniques used in rhinoplasty. The main difference between open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty techniques is that in open rhinoplasty, the nasal skin is completely removed with a small incision made at the tip of the nose, thus providing a direct view of the entire anatomy. In closed rhinoplasty, the procedure is performed only with incisions made inside the nose, without making an incision in the front of the nose. For this reason, the operation is performed with a more limited view compared to the open technique.
